I noticed that the Yotes ownership has put a cap on the team at 33 million, well below the league cap. My question is what happens in this simulator if I go over the owner imposed salary cap?

They'll get pissed off.
Might fire you if it doesn't go down after a few months.

Yeah, they'll probably warn you to lower the payroll and will fire you if you don't.

you can actually last a long time over the salary budget. It is just very difficult to resign or sign additional players

Yah! I don't think they will fire you if you win. But like Mordak says, It will be hard to sign players and even resign you're own players which can be very frustrating.
